I think a lot of people who wants to learn the piano will be satisfied being able to play a few easy melodies with some accompaniment chords for their favorite pop songs, so that is all the "mastery" that they are looking for. The advertisements for "master piano in 30 days" might be related to the fact that after 30 days you may play some pop arrangements quite well, which is completely different as being a piano master, so the claims are false, but is also a matter of perspective. I think there is a tremendous difference between being good at piano playing classical music (and/or jazz), or being good at playing pop music.
